Al Lasiloo: Septerian, Bear with Bundle
La-si-loo
Carved from striking Septarian stone, this bear highlights the stone’s natural network of earthy browns, golds, and dark mineral patterns that flow across the powerful form of the animal. The bear’s sturdy stance reflects strength and calm presence, while its vivid turquoise eyes provide a bright, lifelike contrast against the warm tones of the stone.
Resting on its back is a finely inlaid arrowhead of shimmering mother of pearl, adding a luminous accent and symbolic detail to the piece. The iridescent glow of the shell beautifully complements the rich septarian patterns, making this bear carving a distinctive and captivating work of art.
Bear (Anshe): Bear was the principal animal for the Pueblo People and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetishes. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting and gathering. Bear‚ hibernation reminds us of the value of going within.
