Andres Lementino: Mother of Pearl Rabbit

Andres Lementino: Mother of Pearl Rabbit

Lem-en-tino

This delicate rabbit carved from mother of pearl, its surface shimmering with soft, iridescent tones of cream, silver, and subtle hints of pink and gold. The natural luster of the shell gives the rabbit an almost ethereal glow, as if it were lit from within. Smooth and flowing, the carving captures the gentle spirit and alert posture of the animal—ears perked, body poised in quiet stillness. Set into the rabbit’s face are two inlaid turquoise eyes, vibrant and full of life. The vivid blue stones provide a striking contrast to the pearlescent body, giving the piece an expressive, soulful gaze that draws the viewer in. Around the rabbit’s neck is a tiny, lovingly crafted necklace made of small turquoise stones, each bead adding texture and meaning to the piece. This rabbit is more than a carving—it's a symbol of gentleness, intuition, and sacred adornment, radiating quiet power and elegance.

Rabbit (Okshik’o): is a prey animal. Small and defenseless, it depends on its reflexes and keen senses for survival. Rabbit reminds us to acknowledge our fears, for if we don't, they can paralyze and dictate our behavior.
