Benina Kallestewa: Brown Banded Onyx, Snake
Benina Kallestewa: Brown Banded Onyx, Snake
The snake rises in a poised, upward coil—its body thick at the base and narrowing as it ascends. The curves are smooth and deliberate, giving the impression of silent readiness or ritual stillness. Its head is lifted high, alert and steady, as if surveying its surroundings or preparing to strike—not with aggression, but with quiet authority. The most striking detail is its eyes, inlaid with blue lab opal. These shimmering insets flash with tones of electric blue, aqua, and hints of green, catching the light with an iridescent fire. The eyes bring the snake to life, adding a hypnotic, otherworldly quality to its gaze—both mesmerizing and mysterious. This carving embodies the symbolic essence of the snake: transformation, protection, and deep knowledge. The brown onyx connects it to the earth and grounding energy, while the blue opal eyes hint at hidden wisdom, intuition, and the unseen.
Snake (Chitdola): Snake sheds its skin. This is a powerful symbol of our need to discard old ways, patterns, and perspectives. Snake meaning is that of alchemy, i.e. that which is negative may be transformed into something positive.
