Hat-tee
The mountain lion is carved in a poised, grounded stance, its body elongated and muscles defined, as if caught mid-prowl. The tail curves with balance, and its head is slightly lowered—focused, alert, and ready. The stylization emphasizes the feline's agility and quiet intensity rather than detailed realism, allowing the stone’s natural patterning to suggest the texture of fur and shadow. Its eyes are inlaid with turquoise, vibrant and watchful. The cool blue stones stand out against the earthy tones of the marble, imbuing the figure with a striking spiritual presence. The turquoise eyes add a sense of awareness, giving the lion a soul—mysterious, protective, and deeply connected to its surroundings. On its back rests a small arrowhead made of penn shell, dark, iridescent, and symbolic. The shell’s subtle shimmer contrasts with the stone’s matte surface, and the arrowhead itself represents life, protection, direction, and power. In Zuni tradition, the presence of the arrowhead marks the animal as a guardian figure, its back bearing sacred energy and responsibility.
Mountain lion (Hokdidasha): is at the top of the food chain and is regarded to be a great hunter and leader. Mountain lion’s presence is usually felt but not seen. Mountain Lion medicine is about setting good examples and boundaries.
