Derrick has carved the beetle with precision: the broad, domed back is smooth and slightly glossy, while the ridged lines of the shell and the dramatic forward curve of its horn are rendered in clean, confident strokes. Its legs, tucked beneath, are stout and powerful, emphasizing the beetle’s iconic strength. Inlaid into its small, focused face are two luminous turquoise eyes, cool and vivid against the warm stone.
