Dominica Wallace: Pipestone, Etched Snake
Dominica Wallace: Pipestone, Etched Snake
Wall-ace
The snake is carved in a dynamic, flowing pose, its body winding sinuously across an invisible path. The curves are deliberate and elegant, capturing the motion of a snake in mid-slither—quiet, purposeful, and precise. The etched lines along its back and sides follow the natural arc of its movement, adding detail and rhythm that suggest both scales and ceremonial markings. Running along the length of its body are small, inlaid turquoise dots, spaced rhythmically. These bright blue stones stand out vividly against the rich red of the pipestone, creating a visual contrast that draws the eye and suggests power, healing, or transformation.
Snake (Chitdola): Snake sheds its skin. This is a powerful symbol of our need to discard old ways, patterns, and perspectives. Snake meaning is that of alchemy, i.e. that which is negative may be transformed into something positive.
