Eddington Hannaweeka: Serpentine, Frog

Eddington Hannaweeka: Serpentine, Frog

Han-na-wee-ka

The stone’s varying shades of green—from deep forest to soft moss—flow across its surface, giving the frog a lively, organic appearance. Set into its face are bright turquoise eyes, their vivid blue-green hue providing a striking contrast to the green serpentine and lending the frog a playful, alert expression. The combination of serpentine’s earthy elegance and the vibrant turquoise eyes gives the piece a sense of vitality and charm, as if the frog is imbued with life and quiet energy.

Frog (Da:k'yawiyo): Toad (Dakka) Frog (Dakkya) is a sign of water. Water is life. In Zuni Pueblo, frogs often appear on prayer bowls since many of the Zuni prayers and dances ask for water in the form of rain or snow. Cleansing is also a part of Frog’s meaning as well as emotional and physical healing.
