Farlan & Paulette Quam: Picasso, Snake
Quam
A coiled snake carved from Picasso marble rests in a poised, watchful stance, its sinuous form capturing the fluid curves and natural grace of the serpent. The stone’s warm brown tones are streaked with intricate veining in lighter and darker shades, adding depth and movement to the carving. Set into its head are vivid turquoise eyes, their bright blue color creating a striking contrast against the earthy marble and lending the snake an alert, almost mystical presence. The combination of the marble’s natural patterns and the vibrant inlays gives the piece a sense of both grounded strength and quiet, coiled energy.
Snake (Chitdola): Snake sheds its skin. This is a powerful symbol of our need to discard old ways, patterns, and perspectives. Snake meaning is that of alchemy, i.e. that which is negative may be transformed into something positive.
