Gerald Burns(d): Picasso, Horse

Gerald Burns(d): Picasso, Horse

The marble’s natural patterns swirl across its form in shades of soft grey, warm brown, and subtle black, resembling the flowing texture of a mane or the dappling of a coat. Set into its face are vivid turquoise eyes, their bright blue color bringing a lively spark to the horse’s expression. Resting across its back is a finely shaped turquoise arrowhead, its vibrant hue harmonizing with the eyes while symbolizing protection, spirit, and tradition. The blend of Picasso marble’s earthy, painterly patterns with the brilliant turquoise details creates a piece that feels both grounded in nature and infused with cultural meaning.

Horse (Du:shi): Horse brought power to the People. After the horse arrived on the Plains, people were able to move faster with heavier burdens, they could hunt game more efficiently, and they became fiercer warriors. Horse affords mobility that gives us freedom and power, but not the power that weighs us down. We need to be mindful that the most positive relationships are cooperative ones. All participants must respect the power of others with acceptance and tolerance. Our relationship to Horse differs from relationships between man and any other animal because it is a relationship requiring a deep understanding, without which the strength and benefits of Horse are inaccessible.
