The traditional bear, symbolizing strength, courage, and protection, is painted using vibrant acrylic colors, bringing it to life on the wooden surface. Aside the bear, the Sunface represents warmth, growth, and prosperity. Sunface: The Sunface represents the sacred sun father. Zuni's have always honored the sun's vita role in the cycling of and the success of crops, recognizing that the sins warmth sustains life, enables growth, and brings joy and prosperity to the people.
Bear (Anshe): Bear was the principal animal for the Pueblo People, and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetishes. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting, and gathering. Bear‚ hibernation reminds us of the value of going within.
