The stone’s organic patterns give the piece depth and individuality, making each angle unique and visually engaging. A smooth, polished finish enhances the natural contrast between the colors while preserving the character of the material.
The bear’s turquoise eyes provide a vivid pop of color, bringing life and watchful strength to its expression. A carefully set turquoise inlaid heart-line flows along its side, symbolizing breath, vitality, and the spiritual life force within. In Zuni tradition, the heart-line represents the connection between the physical body and the inner spirit — a powerful reminder of balance and purpose.
Bear (Anshe): Bear was the principal animal for the Pueblo People and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetishes. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting and gathering. Bear‚ hibernation reminds us of the value of going within.
