Tim Lementino: Black Marble, Raven

Tim Lementino: Black Marble, Raven

The raven's form is elegant and intentional. Its head is slightly tilted or forward, as if mid-thought or mid-call, wings tucked close to the body, and beak sharp and defined. The contours are strong yet graceful, capturing both the bird’s intelligence and mystique. Whether perched or in the midst of stillness, the posture suggests watchfulness and cunning, as if the raven knows something it won’t yet say. Set into its face are turquoise eyes—small, bright, and piercing. The vivid blue-green of the turquoise stands in bold contrast to the raven’s dark stone body, creating a gaze that feels both ancient and aware. The eyes catch light with a quiet intensity, giving the carving life and a touch of the supernatural. They suggest vision beyond the visible, insight into the spirit realm, or the wisdom of stories long forgotten.

Raven (K'odolo'a): Abundant lore, mythology, and magic surrounds Raven. Raven’s medicine is that of informing us of our inner, more hidden world to which we need to become comfortable in order to experience a change in consciousness. That shadow part of ourselves can be of great help to us if we have the courage to look into it. Raven is comfortable there and offers us the opportunity to discover the personal fears and demons that are keeping us from our awakening and our magic. The black color of the feathers of Raven contains all colors, evoking creativity, not negativity. Raven medicine can help us to really look at the issues that frighten, anger, and thwart us. Doing this can lead to understanding and integration so that the negative energy is magically lifted.
